Dedicated to the memory of Jane Coxon

This site is a tribute to the much missed, but always loved Jane Coxon. In her memory we continue to fundraise for Arthritis Research UK.

At the age of 29 Jane was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. She was given medical advice from a number of medical professionals back then to move into a bungalow & to give up exercise. A bleak outlook was forecast as Jane was told to give up all exercise & prepare to become an invalid for what short life she would have left. However, it wasn't Jane's way to just give up....

She completed many sponsored walks & talks, as well as donating herself to ARC & then Arthritis Research UK as it became. The Highlight being a 140 mile walk around Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc- conquering ascents & descents of 37,000 feet. Jane also completed The Inca Trail in Peru, & at the age of 71 completed a 45 mile walk taking in The John Muir Way in Scotland.

These are but a few of the many achievements in the name of research into this debilitating condition that she completed in her 27 years of fundraising. Though an exact figure has not been established, it is believed that Jane aided this cause with funds far in excess of £10,000. Oh, & despite numerous joint replacements, aches & pains- she never did move into that bungalow!  Friends & family hope to honour her with their own gifts to this marvellous cause.
